File Transfers (FT Option)
There must be a PICK folder setup on your PC's (C:/) Drive.
To create a Pick Folder Double-click the My Computer icon on the desktop, Double-click (C:/) Click File-->New-->Folder Name the new folder PICK.
At any printer select screen, type FT <enter> Instead of putting a printer number to transfer the data to a file on your computer.
You will see the AccuTerm File Transfer Utility appear on the screen, this means it is transferring the data to a file.
Once the File Transfer is complete, open Excel. Click Data>Import External Data>Import Data In the dropdown box next to “Look In:” Select the (C:/) Drive. Locate the PICK folder and double-click it. You should now see a file called “ft” or “ft.txt”, double-click it. You will now get the “File Import Wizard” Select Fixed Width and click NEXT
Follow the directions on the next screen to place column breaks where they should be. Note, you can scroll up and down and left to right to view your data and place your column breaks. When you are finished, click NEXT.
In the next screen, you are asked to format the columns. By default they are all formatted to General, which is just fine unless you have numeric or alpha-numeric columns that begin or end with a 0 (zero.) Those columns need to be formatted as TEXT so as not to loose the leading or ending zero. To format the column as text, click anywhere in the column and select Text.
When you are finished, click FINISH.
Now your data is in Excel and you may do what you need with it. When saving your file, click File>Save as. Change the “Save In” to your normal folder (Usually My Documents) Name the file what you wish, then change the “Save as” under name to “Microsoft Excel Workbook” then click Save.
